WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — President-elect Donald Trump is causing concerns because of reports that he is conducting personal business after winning the presidential election, US House of Representatives Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer said in a statement.
"I am deeply concerned by reports over the past few days that Donald Trump is continuing to promote his personal business ventures as he prepares to assume the presidency," Hoyer stated on Monday.
Hoyer mentioned reports that Trump has met Indian business partners after the election and used a congratulatory call with Argentina's president to lobby on behalf of a Trump building project.
"Using the office of the presidency to further business deals goes against the principles of our nation," Hoyer noted.
If the reports are accurate, Trump’s behavior is unacceptable for an incoming president, Hoyer concluded.
