MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — The two negotiating sides have been in talks to reconsider a previous deal, which was rejected by Colombians on October 2. Since the rejection, around 60 amendments had been made to the accord.
The implementation of the agreements should contribute to the settlement of the long-term conflict in the Latin American nation, the Tuesday statement said.
The statement added that the signed peace accord would be sent to the country's parliament for ratification.
FARC was formed in 1964 as the military wing of Colombia's Communist Party. The half-century war between the FARC and the Colombian government claimed the lives of a quarter of a million people. The two sides began peace talks in November 2012.
