The tomb, entirely untouched, was found during excavations carried out on one of the city's streets, Turkish Hürriyet newspaper reported.

Archaeologists said that the burial chamber is about 2400 years old. The valuable discovery dates back to the Hellenistic period, when Ancient Greek culture had an enormous impact on the region.

Scientists suggest that the burial chamber belonged to a noble family. The tomb contained more than 100 artifacts, which have been taken for further archaeological examination.
