MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, US President-elect Donald Trump said that Farage could "do a great job" acting as the UK ambassador to the United States and many people would like to see him representing Britain.
"I have a serious concern over the announcement Donald Trump has made. I have a particular concern about Nigel Farage given any position of responsibility. He is clearly closes, condones closing borders from Britain to the rest of the world," Carr said on the sidelines of the ENES 2016 forum in Moscow.
He added that no country would benefit from this state of affairs.
On Tuesday, Farage said he was ready to help the United Kingdom "in any way". He added that Trump was a "serious anglophile" and a friend of the United Kingdom. The UK government said there were no vacancies for Farage, adding that Britain already has an excellent ambassador to the United States.
Farage, who advocated the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union, welcomed Trump's victory in the US presidential election, calling it and Brexit "two big political revolutions" of 2016. Many pollsters and bookmakers failed to predict results of both the US presidential election and the Brexit referendum.
