Military cooperation between Russia and China poses no threat to other states, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Chang Wanquan on Wednesday.

BEIJING (Sputnik) — The minister noted that military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Beijing "focuses on capacity building to counter modern threats and challenges, primarily international terrorism."

"I note that bilateral military cooperation is not directed against other states, does not threaten them, but contributes to peace and stability on the Eurasian continent and beyond," Shoigu said.

This year's $3 billion military contracts signed between Russia and China represent a significant achievement, Russian Defense Minister added.

"We have serious achievements in the military and technical field. We have reached the level of about $3 billion annually to carry out a wide range of contracts," Shoigu said.

"They are all in varying degrees implemented within the framework of mutually beneficial military and technical cooperation."
