Twitter suspended its founder's account. CEO Jack Dorsey who was banned said it happened by mistake.

The account of Twitter Inc.'s co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey was briefly suspended on Tuesday night for unknown reasons, then reactivated.

After it came back online, Dorsey tweeted that the suspension was the result of "an internal mistake."

Twitter didn't respond to requests for further comment about what caused Dorsey's account to be banned.

When Dorsey's account was reactivated, it initially had fewer than 200 followers compared to 3.9 million before. Later, the figure popped back up to 3.8 million.

The suspension of Dorsey's account provoked angry comments from people who asked how many regular users' accounts might also have been accidentally banned by the company in the past.

Which users Twitter does or doesn't block is a highly sensitive topic since Twitter has become more active in freezing accounts lately.

Many Twitter user are gloating over Jack Dorsey’s misfortune saying it was Karma that punished him for blocking others’ accounts. They even created the hashtag #JackIsGoneParty.

While others posted compassionate words of support saying the suspension was not right and called on others to #FreeJack.

Many speculated on the reasons for Dorsey’s account ban. Some users were fast to report about a hacker attack.

Others set up conspiracy theories including revenge…

…Dorsey’s connections with terrorists…

…And the hand of Kremlin, of course.
