MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Federal Guard Service (FSO) General Gennady Lopyrev has been detained following an internal check that revealed signs of violations, the FSO reported Friday.

"During an internal inspection of the FSO held in its units in the Caucasus, signs of serious law violations were revealed. The check's materials have been handed to investigative bodies. General G.A. Lopyrev has been detained. Relevant investigative activities are underway," the FSO statement said without specifying details.
