MADRID (Sputnik) — Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev received the expensive gift from Israel's Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel while he was being shown around the scientific research Volcani Center near the Israeli capital on November 10, the Spanish daily ABC said.
Israel procured two Sniper drones from Spain’s Alpha Unmanned Systems after more than two years of talks. They are estimated to have cost Israel over $100,000.
The Spanish Foreign Ministry stressed, in a verbal note, that the Center was the end-buyer of this sensitive technology and therefore forbidden to resell it. It also said EU sanctions against Russia banned the sales of dual-use equipment.
