MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — The hurricane crossed through Costa Rica and Nicaragua on the way from the Caribbean to the Pacific, and made landfall on Thursday.
Costa Rica has been observing three days of mourning after the hurricane tore through the country, destroying the property of 11,000 people and 1,677 miles of roads, according to the national emergencies commission.
Hurricane Otto is the seventh hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season. At its peak it had sustained winds of up to 118 miles per hour.
