Fidel Castro's Death Could Ease US-Cuba Relations, Analysts Say
BERLIN (Sputnik) — The death of the Cuban revolutionary leader and former president Fidel Castro was announced by incumbent Cuban President Raul Castro on Friday. A funeral ceremony has been scheduled for December 4, and will be held at a cemetery in Santiago de Cuba.

"Fidel Castro was undoubtedly a historic figure that influenced Cuba’s life for half a century. He was an extremely controversial person whose revolution was aimed at attaining a genuine independence but tied the island and its people for decades to a repressive political system," Steffen Seibert told reporters in Berlin.

Cuba has received many condolences from leaders around the world, including from Putin and outgoing US President Barack Obama.
