"We are preparing major projects to create joint ventures in the field of shipbuilding and ship repairs in Greek and Russian shipyards. The enterprises themselves will announce details of this cooperation themselves," Velanis told RIA Novosti.
Velanis noted that the two countries also considered establishment of transport servicing centers for Russia's export and import through the Greek ports to ease the trade transportation through the narrow Bosphorus strait.
"We are talking for good reason that the Greece's northern ports are ready and expecting [cooperation with] Russia," Velanis said.
The year 2016 is the Russia-Greece cross-cultural year, as it marks the 1,000-year anniversary since the first Russian settlement on the Holy Mount Athos in Greece. Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Greece in late May to discuss bilateral trade-economic and investment cooperation, among other points.
