Manila police has lifted the road closure near the US Embassy after an alleged bomb threat, media reported on Monday, citing a police official.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Manila Police Department has lifted the road closure near the US Embassy after an alleged bomb in a trash bin was revealed to be a cellphone, media reported on Monday, citing a police official.

“Upon inspection, it appears there’s only some cellphone or some gadgets inside the trash can… As of now, it’s safe,” Joel Coronel, the chief of police said as quoted by the Manila Bulletin newspaper.

​Earlier in the day, the police closed roads near the US Embassy after a street sweeper had claimed to have found a bomb in a trash bin.
