Russia has confirmed its combat jets were not involved in an airstrike on Turkish army positions near Syria's Al Bab, which killed three Turkish servicemen, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said Monday.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — Turkey's General Staff confirmed last week the death of three Turkish servicemen near Al Bab in northern Syria during an airstrike allegedly carried out by Syria's Airforce. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Turkey would respond. Later Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan held two rounds of phone talks to discuss the Al Bab incident.

"Russia and President Putin have confirmed that there were no Russian aircraft there. There are all recordings, testimony, they are being studied attentively. As soon as all data relating to the incident are examined, a relevant response will be given," Kurtulmus told reporters.
