BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — The WTO report confirmed that Boeing had received a significant subsidy from the US state of Washington in exchange for a promise to confine a great number of company's operations to the state.
"The WTO confirmed that the US 2013 decision to extend tax breaks for Boeing until the year 2040 goes against previous WTO rulings. By making these tax breaks…the US also discriminated against foreign suppliers," the EC said in a statement.
The panel of experts recommended the immediate withdrawal of the subsidy.
In September, the WTO found that European Union failed to withdraw massive subsidies illegally granted to Airbus Group plane manufacturer, the US company's long-time rival, as Boeing pointed out in a press release at the time.
