WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – “Wenceslau Esmerio Campos, 49, had been detained at the South Texas Detention Complex, in Pearsall, Texas,” the release on Monday stated. “On Nov. 23 at 6:43 p.m. the ICE Health Service Corps notified ICE officials that Campos would be taken to the Frio Regional Hospital in Pearsall, Texas, for medical evaluation due to chest pains. A short time later, Frio Regional hospital officials arranged for him to be taken to Methodist Hospital due to his life-threatening condition.”

Campus had illegally returned to the United States in October after being deported in 2008, the release stated. He was apprehended October 23 by Customs and Border Protection agents in a Texas town on the US-Mexico border.

In 2003, Campos was apprehended by border agents and transferred to ICE custody before an immigration judge ordered his deportation, the release stated. It added that prior to deportation, Campos was convicted of driving while intoxicated on three separate occasions.
