"Only yesterday, I returned from a conference in Potsdam, and you know, one can feel a different climate. Europeans are reevaluating the situation, because, of course, many people understand and have been understanding for many years, that in fact, the way of attempting to isolate Russia, trying to hurt us, is absolutely fruitless, and it takes a huge amount of resources, including from the West, which could be spent on resolution of other issues," Dolgov said.
Since 2014, relations between Russia and the West have soured amid the crisis in Ukraine. Brussels, Washington and their allies have introduced several rounds of anti-Russia sanctions since Crimea became part of Russia in 2014 and over Moscow's alleged involvement in the conflict between the pro-independence eastern Ukrainian militias and Kiev.
Russia has repeatedly refuted the allegations, warning that the Western sanctions are counterproductive and undermine global stability.
