Abbas Urges Netanyahu to Believe in Two-State Solution to Achieve Peace
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Putin added that Russia and Palestine traditionally have relations based on mutual cooperation and friendship. Putin also stressed that Russia is ready to contribute to resumption of the Israel-Palestine talks and to restoring Palestinian national unity.

"Mr. President, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People … I would like to confirm Russia’s favoring a comprehensive, just and durable solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the international law and resulting in the establishment of viable State of Palestine within 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and with  peaceful coexistence with its neighbors," Putin said in a congratulatory telegram, as quoted by the Kremlin’s press service.

On November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution separating Palestine’s territory into a "Jewish State" and an "Arab State".

Palestinians seek recognition for their independent state on the territories of West Bank as well as East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. The Israeli government denies Palestine's claims, refusing to diplomatically recognize the existence of a Palestinian state.
