WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes against Daesh in Syria and Iraq since 2014. However, the strikes in Syria are not authorized by the legitimate government of President Bashar Assad or by the UN Security Council.
"Near Ar Raqqah, one strike engaged an ISIL [Daesh] chemical weapons storage facility," the release stated on Wednesday.
Four additional airstrikes in Syria targeted Daesh oil well heads, pump jacks and tactical units near the cities of Abu Kamal and Shaddadi.
