MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Iranian diplomat, "the humanitarian catastrophe in Aleppo must be prevented."
"We have carried out several [unilateral] humanitarian missions in Syria before. We are currently considering a joint humanitarian operation with Russia," Rahimpur said addressing Russian lawmakers at the upper house of the Russian parliament, the Federation Council.
Earlier this month, the first special operation to evacuate the citizens of eastern Aleppo was held. On Monday, the Russian reconciliation center said that the Syrian army had established complete control over 12 districts of eastern Aleppo, liberating some 40 percent of the region’s territory.
On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Syrian government forces had freed some 90,000 residents.
