NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Earlier this month, media reports said Pakistani authorities had approved the use of the country's southern Gwadar Port facility by Russia for its exports as Moscow showed willingness to be part of the CPEC.
"There is no truth in it. In fact, Pakistan is trying to become closer to us in this way," Kadakin said.
The Gwadar port features prominently in the CPEC plan, and is considered to be a crucial link between China's One Belt, One Road and Maritime Silk Road projects. The $50-billion CPEC project has been viewed with concern by India as it runs through the disputed region of Kashmir.
In September, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Chinese President Xi Jinping to be sensitive to India's strategic interests, stressing that Kashmir emanates a danger of terrorism.
