Serdar Okuyucu, from 2001 to 2009, was actively involved in politics. He was in a managerial position in the youth wing of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
However, two years ago Okuyucu decided to reconnect with nature and became a shepherd in the province of Bursa. One evening, while grazing a flock of sheep, he saw a full moon.
According to him the stunning view of the moon was so captivating that he just couldn’t look away and it inspired him to create a political party under the name Dolunay which means full moon.

“Right now our party branches have been registered in 60 provinces across Turkey. In the near future we intend to cover all 81 provinces,” Okuyucu said.
He further said that the country feels the need for politicians who have emerged from common people and who share and understand common people’s aspirations.
