MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Khaama Press agency, the commander, killed in Achin district, headed a group of at least 20 Daesh loyalists.
Neither security forces, nor local residents were injured during the operation conducted on Wednesday night, according to the report.
Earlier this week, media reported that the Daesh loyalists had suffered many casualties during the ongoing anti-terrorist operations of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in the Nangarhar province.
Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, with Taliban insurgents and other extremist factions such as Daesh, outlawed in Russia and many other countries, taking advantage of the instability in the country.
