MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Most of the Supreme Court judges voted on Thursday in favour of upholding charges brought against Renan Calheiros and the Senate President will now face trial for the first time, the Folha de Sao Paulo daily said.
Calheiros is being investigated in 11 other cases related to corruption.
Earlier this year, Brazil’s president Dilma Rousseff was impeached over allegations of manipulating the budget, which she has denied.
