MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Monterbourg announced his bid to run for president in August.
According to Le Monde newspaper, Montebourg formally entered the country's presidential race on Thursday. This will become the second pre-election campaign for Montebourg, who is seeking to get Socialist Party nomination. In 2011, Montebourg lost primaries to current President Francois Hollande and mayor of Lille Martine Aubry.
The French presidential election will take place in April and May 2017.
