MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The discovery was made by scientists from the Federal Scientific Clinical Center of Physicochemical Medical Science in Moscow, the Izvestiya newspaper reported.
According to scientific center’s laboratory chief Sergey Kiselev, skin cells are most suitable for reprogramming as tissue retrieval is not harmful for patients.
He also said that members of a family with hereditary macular degeneration will be the first patients, who will get retinas from reprogrammed cells.
The scientific center’s researchers are going to continue their studies and to develop treatment of the Parkinson disease with the help of cell technologies.
