Last month Domino’s Japan made headlines after it made the strange announcement that it was going to arrange winter delivery by reindeers in northern regions of the country.
The company has previously made deliveries using drones and canoes but on this occasion, using reindeer is just a step too far. Instead the company will turn to something just as crazy: bikes cosplaying deer.
A new announcement on Domino’s Japan website says that they had to give up on reindeers because the animals were too hard to train. GPS trackers showed that deer went off the roads, passed by customers’ homes, and wandered around generally getting lost.
“This is below our service standards” the announcement reads.
However Domino’s did not want to totally disappoint the public who were already excited about the fairy-tail-like attraction on a white Christmas. So the company announced cosplay delivery by bikes decorated with toy deer horns, noses and legs.
Domino's left the deer icon on the GPS tracker app, as a reminder of the “broken dream,” according to the website.
