Extension of US Sanctions Against Iran Violates Nuclear Deal – Tehran
TEHRAN (Sputnik) — Iranian lawmakers prepared a bill to ban import of consumer goods from the United States in response to the extension of US sanctions against Tehran, a source told Sputnik Friday.

On Thursday, the US Senate voted unanimously to prolong the 1979 sanctions against Tehran by another 10 years after they expire later this month. The extension was endorsed by the lower chamber of the parliament last month and would now go before President Barack Obama, who is expected to sign it before he leaves office next year.

“Members of parliament prepared a draft bill, which will ban a purchase [by Tehran] of any US consumer goods in response to the decision of the US Senate to extend sanctions against Iran,” a parliamentary source said.

According to the source, the bill would be brought to the parliament for consideration.

With Sanctions Gone Iran is Walking Tall Again
Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said that the decision to renew sanctions was in breach of last year’s nuclear deal.

In July last year, Iran signed a historic deal with Russia, the United States, China, Britain, France and Germany where it pledged to curb its nuclear research in exchange for sanctions relief.
