WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The future of the TPP was put into question after Donald Trump won the US presidential election on November 8. Last week, Trump said that the United States would quit the TPP agreement on the first day of his tenure as president in January.
“The Trans-Pacific Partnership loses its meaning without US participation in it. I think that the agreement may not pass the ratification stage and there will be some transformation process linked to the Pacific Rim region,” Stadnik said.
He added that TPP could be transformed into a new alliance involving Russia and China.
"I think there is a chance that the agreement will not be ratified and there will be a transformation process related to the Asia-Pacific region. Maybe, it will facilitate implementation of APEC goal to create free trade area by 2020 or a comprehensive regional economic partnership involving Russia and China will be established," Stadnik pointed out.
