WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Russian embassy in the United States is verifying reports of a Russian-born teenager allegedly killing his adoptive parents, and stands ready to provide legal assistance if he maintains Russian citizenship, a spokesperson for the embassy told Sputnik on Friday.
“Russian embassy is verifying reports of a Russian-born teen allegedly killing his adoptive parents in Texas,” the spokesperson stated. “The Russian embassy is ready to provide legal assistance to the teenager allegedly adopted from Russia and accused of killing adoptive parents in Texas.”
On Thursday, US media reported that 17-year-old Carl Brewer, who was allegedly adopted from Russia, killed his adoptive parents Troy Gene Brewer, 60, and Mary Sheldon Brewer, 64, in Crowley, Texas.
The police said that they received 16 calls from the house since 2010, the media outlet noted.
According to media reports, the Brewers had three adopted children from Russia, while Carl was the only one still living with the parents.
