MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Abdul Rehman was seized in a police raid on the hotel he was staying at in Bangkok, the Bangkok Post newspaper said on Saturday. He reportedly arrived in the country two weeks ago.
A Pakistani court issued a warrant for his arrest on sabotage charges. The 46-year-old is suspected of being behind the 2014 fire that killed over 250 people in Pakistan’s financial capital.
The man is said to be involved in a Pakistani criminal ring. He allegedly set fire to the factory after its owner refused to pay him almost $200,000.
Karachi fire chief Ehtesham Salim said bodies of factory workers were found in the basement of the facility, which produce underwear and plastic utensils. He said it was the deadliest blaze in decades.
