The Russian Armed Forces have formed a new helicopter squadron in the Krasnodar Territory consisting solely of bleeding-edge Ka-52 Alligator scout-attack choppers.
The Alligator can carry out reconnaissance tasks as well as target mobile and stationary enemy objects including armor vehicles, aircraft and manpower.
For this purpose, the gunship is armed with a 30-mm automatic cannon, and can carry laser-guided anti-tank missiles, short-range air-to-air missiles and other missiles or bombs on six stations.
But what makes this helicopter truly unique is its distinctive coaxial rotor system that allows for unbelievable maneuverability. The chopper can perform aerobatic maneuvers beyond the capabilities of rival helicopters.
Russia has utilized Ka-52 helicopters in the course of its anti-Daesh operation in Syria. The Alligators were first filmed near the Christian town of al-Qaryatayn liberated from terrorists in early April.
Some countries have been lining up to buy Ka-52 choppers. For example, Egypt has already appealed to Moscow to supply the choppers for its Mistral helicopter carriers.
The first batch of Ka-52 helicopters manufactured for foreign purchasers will be ready for delivery in 2017.
