Guantanamo Bay Gets New Boss Under Trump
MOSCOW (Sputnik) In July, Guantanamo Bay Periodic Review Boards (PRBs) cleared Balzuhair, along with two other detainees, for release.

"As a result of that review, which examined a number of factors, including security issues, Balzuhair was recommended for transfer by consensus of the six departments and agencies comprising the Periodic Review Board. The Periodic Review Board process was established by the president's March 7, 2011 Executive Order 13567," the Pentagon said in a statement.

After his release, a total of 59 prisoners will remain at the US base in Cuba.

Balzuhair has been held at the detention facility since October 2002 after his capture along with five other suspected al-Qaeda militants in Pakistan a month before.
