WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — According to the sheriff's office, 16 families have been already notified about the results of the conducted autopsies.
Ahern noted that authorities would still have to get in contact with embassies of three countries as they have confirmed that persons from Finland, Guatemala and Korea were among the victims.
Officials are still trying to determine what caused the fire that broke out during an electronic-music show in part of the two-story warehouse. The facility also housed an artists’ complex and apartments that may have been unauthorized under the city’s building code.
"It is not clear right now and is too early to speculate," Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley stated at the press conference on Monday.
The officials confirmed that recovery crews have searched nearly 75 percent of the facility so far.
