MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Eurasian Economic Union includes Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia.
"Even though 2016 remained difficult, it was still considerably better than 2015, judging by a number of economic indices. This gives a reason to believe that in 2017 the economy will begin to grow," Valovaya said at the Eurasian Economic Congress at Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.
According to Valovaya, the GDP in EAEU countries fell 0.8 percent in January-September 2016, which was an improvement on the 3.1 percent decline from the corresponding period in 2015.
The minister also compared the decrease in trade between EAEU members states, which in 2016 showed 14.3 percent decline against 25.3 in 2015.
Valovays noted that Armenia, which joined the bloc in 2015, managed to grow its export to EAEU countries by 60 percent.
