WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Last month, Stein launched a campaign to recount election votes in three states- Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin — where Donald Trump won by narrow margins.
"Although a recount was denied in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, I plan to appeal the ruling because Americans deserve a true democracy," Stein said in a message posted on Twitter Monday.
Earlier in the day, the Stein campaign filed a lawsuit in the US District Court in the city of Philadelphia arguing that a recount is needed on constitutional grounds, and it specifically criticized Pennsylvania’s own criteria for recounts as well as vote-counting machines used by the state. The campaign said the machines do not provide paper records of votes submitted.
