DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — Conducting humanitarian operations in Aleppo in conditions of incessant hostilities and lack of security guarantees is virtually impossible, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said Tuesday.
"Unending hostilities, as well as the absence of real security guarantees on both sides make humanitarian operations in Aleppo virtually impossible. The current situation shows that such guarantees — both for the medical personnel and humanitarian employees are just absent," the ICRC said while commenting on the situation in the Syrian city.
The situation in Aleppo has been seriously deteriorating over the recent months. Thousands of civilians are trapped in the terrorist-besieged eastern parts of Aleppo with no access to food or water. There have been several attempts to establish a ceasefire, however the bids have failed.
