US Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work has met with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze in Washington, DC to discuss security assistance to Kiev, the Pentagon announced in a release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The two leaders also reviewed US security assistance efforts designed to help build the capacity of Ukraine's forces, the release stated.

Work has noted that 2017 National Defense Authorization Act "offers a promising signal that security cooperation efforts can continue in the new year if Ukraine demonstrates progress in implementing defense institutional reforms."
