WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Spencer said Trump has a "deep connection" with the alt-right movement because of the President-elect’s focus on the white identity, the report claimed.
“White nationalist Richard Spencer on Tuesday called president-elect Donald Trump ‘a kind of alt-right hero,’ during a press conference before his evening speech at Texas A&M University,” the Houston Chronicle said on Tuesday.
The report also noted, however, that Trump has disavowed the “alt-right” — a movement that “combines racism, white nationalism and populism.”
Thousands of students gathered to protest against Spencer and his divisive message. Law enforcement officers were on the scene to ensure the rally remained safe, according to the report.
