WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Pentagon projected its funding needs over the next five years will far exceed the limits set by the budget sequester, the mandatory budget caps imposed by Congress to cut trillions of dollars from the federal deficit through 2021.
"In my first budget report to Congress I am going to ask for the elimination of the defense sequester. That’s enough. Depletion, I call it depletion that’s worse and worse every year," Trump said at a rally.
The Republican promised the United States would be so strong militarily "like we’ve never ever been before" and would "seek peace through strength."
"We're going to have such a strong, powerful military. It is not going to be depleted any longer," Trump added. "We're going to have the finest equipment in the world. It is going to be new. It is going to be modern. It is going to be clean. It is going to be the best."
