WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – According to the report, the department’s approach to business transformation that was designated as high-risk in 2005, still falls short of resolving business-support problems.
“Defense Department continues to confront management weaknesses related to its business functions that support US military forces."
The GAO, which functions as an internal auditor of federal government agencies, asserted that the Defense Department hasn’t coordinated with its component offices on strategic planning, and chief management officers don’t have a defined role in developing goals.
Without improved monitoring across the Pentagon, the department may not be positioned to assess the overall impact of its business-transformation efforts, the report cautioned.
