Rosatom Expects to Sign Deal With India on Construction of 3rd Stage of NPP Soon
CAIRO (Sputnik) — The significant part of the contract has already been mostly agreed and Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker Markabi was expected to inform country's President Abdel Fattah Sisi about the final stage of the negotiation process, the Egyptian Al-Borsa newspaper reported.

The Egyptian side expected the visit of the delegation from Russia in the near future in order to visit the venue of the NPP construction and evaluate the preparatory activities, the media outlet added.

Russia and Egypt signed an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the Dabaa NPP, consisting of four nuclear power units, 1,200 megawatt (MW) each, on the Mediterranean Sea coast in November 2015. It is set to become the largest construction project carried out by Russia and Egypt since the Aswan Dam.

On Tuesday, Rosatom's Director General Alexey Likhachev said that the contract on the construction of the Dabaa NPP could be signed before the end of 2016.
