US F-15 Sale to Qatar Was an 'Offer You Can't Refuse'
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin a $67.3 million contract to provide spares for the RSAF’s F-15 sensor suite, according to the release.

Lockheed Martin will produce LANTIRN Extended Range (ER) navigation pod spares, Infrared Search and Track (IRST) system spares and Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (TAP) spares, the release added.

"LANTIRN ER pods operate day or night, providing low-level navigation with terrain-following radar on international F-15 and F-16 aircraft. IRST is a passive sensor system used by international F-15 customers. Sniper ATP is a precision targeting system," Lockheed Martin explained.

The F-15 jets are Saudi Arabia’s main force carrying out an airstrike campaign against rebel Houthis in Yemen. The United Nations has estimated that the Saudi-led coalition forces have been responsible for 60 percent of the civilian deaths in Yemen since July 2015. Estimates of the number of civilians have ranged from 2,000 to ten times more.
