"Crimea is quietly going out of isolation. If we have the Crimean national team, then believe me it will soon participate at least in all-Russian but also in international tournaments. The breakthrough will occur the Crimeans are not giving up," head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov said.
The Crimean national team will play on black-red-blue uniform.
CONIFA Vice-President Kristof Wenczel said that the organization wanted to hold the next CONIFA World Football Cup in Crimea.
Football teams that are not FIFA members take part in CONIFA World Football Cups. The first championship was held in Sweden’s Lapland in 2014 and won by the County of Nice national football team. The next tournament took place in Abkhazia in 2016 and ended with a victory of the hosting national team.
