Former FIFA President Joseph Blatter said Friday that his successor Gianni Infantino disrespected him by refusing to take his calls.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In December 2015, Blatter was handed an 8-year suspension over his role in a FIFA corruption scandal. He was accused of paying a large sum of money in 2011 to Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) head Michel Platini, who was also suspended.

CAS Upholds Ex-FIFA President Blatter's Six-year Suspension

Blatter’s suspension from football was reduced to six years on February 24 by the FIFA Appeal Committee. The 80-year-old challenged the ban in the Lausanne-based court last August.

"Absolutely," Blatter said in an interview to BBC World Football, when asked if Infantino showed him disrespect.

Blatter explained that initially the two men had a good rapport and the former president gave his successor a list of questions to be solved, which Infantino promised to work on, but then stopped answering Blatter's calls.

The former FIFA head noted that Infantino's phone number was still in service, but he never answered.

"Now we speak only with lawyers," Blatter said.
