Kremlin Comments on Trump Ex-Adviser's Statement on Crimea
18:24 GMT 09.12.2016 (Updated: 11:25 GMT 06.08.2022) While commenting on statements on Crimea made by Carter Page, an adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump's presidential campaign, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow will give its assessments to statements by US leader Barack Obama and his administration until late January.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Page told Sputnik earlier Friday: "The recent history of Ukraine in general and Crimea in particular over the past several years may be among the most egregious examples of 'fake news' in recent memory. The level of misinformation which has guided related decisions by outside actors and their impact on this country is tragic. I am confident that there will be new possibilities to resolve these misperceptions and the wrong direction it has created for Ukraine."
"Moscow will be assessing official statements by President Obama and members of his administration until the end of January," Peskov told RIA Novosti when asked about Moscow's reaction to Page's statement.

Trump's inauguration will be held on January 20, 2017.
During the election campaign Trump claimed he would "consider" recognizing Crimea as part of Russia following the referendum in the peninsula, adding that the Crimeans wanted to live in Russia.
Crimea rejoined Russia after a 2014 referendum, when almost 97 percent of the region's population voted for the reunification. Sevastopol, which has a federal city status, supported the move by 95.6 percent of votes.
