President Barack Obama's ordered review into alleged hacking of US election systems will not be limited to allegations against Russia, and will consider all foreign actors, White House spokesman Eric Schultz said in a briefing on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier on Friday, Homeland Security Advisor Lisa Monaco said the administration would undertake a full review of reported attempts to breach the US election system before Obama’s term ends on January 20.

"The intrusion… in 2008 was publicly attributed to the Chinese, not to the Russians, so yes, we will be looking at all foreign actors and any attempt to interfere with the elections," Schultz told reporters.

Obama Orders 'Full Review' of Hacking Activity Related to US Election
On Wednesday, seven Democrats in the US House of Representatives asked Obama for a classified briefing on allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Russia has denied claims by US officials that it tried to meddle in the US presidential election. Russian officials have called the allegations absurd and an attempt to distract US voters from domestic issues.
