WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Trump said the United States needed to improve its relationship with China, with which it runs an annual trade deficit of around $500 billion.
“One of the most important relationships we have to improve is our relations with China,” Trump said on Thursday.
However, the president-elect stressed that China has to learn to start playing by the rules of the market economy and stop devaluing its currency.
"China is not a market economy," Trump said on Thursday night. "They haven't played by the rules and… they're going to start."
He also criticized Chinese approach of handling the economy.
"You have the massive theft of information technology… and massive dumping of their currency. Other than that they've been wonderful."
Trump also introduced at the rally his choice as US ambassador to China, current Iowa Governor Terry Bradstad.
