HAMBURG (Sputnik) — On Thursday, President Barack Obama waived legal restrictions outlined in the US Arms Export Control Act, which forbids providing defense-related supplies or services to countries that are not cooperating fully with US anti-terrorism efforts. A US government administration official told Sputnik Thursday that Obama lifted US restrictions on arming partners in Syria to facilitate the Raqqa offensive.
"I do not think this will seriously affect the situation in Eastern Aleppo, as gunmen are surrounded in Eastern Aleppo and they will hardly have an opportunity to get reinforcements," Lavrov said.
Lavrov stated the US decision to lift the ban would influence Russia-US talks on Syria.
"This will have an influence upon our talks, because this is one more oddity of the US policy regarding Aleppo, when the left hand does something constructive and the right hand at this moment opens the floodgates to supply militants with weaponry."
