WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Work will be performed at San Diego, California and international locations, and is expected to be completed by January 23, 2018, the Defense Department said.
“Northrop Grumman Information Systems, Herndon, Virginia, has been awarded a $55,275,786 firm-fixed-price… contract,” the release stated on Friday. “Contractor will perform comprehensive tasks and provide personnel, facilities, aircraft subsystems and support equipment for the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node E-11A platform.”
The Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) is a United States Air Force (USAF) airborne communications relay system that is carried on the EQ-4B Global Hawk and the E-11A Global Express.
The system is designed to communicate real-time information across battle situations via data links and voice systems beyond line of sight and across geographical barriers such as mountains.
