While summer is the most popular time to visit Moscow, skating in the city's parks is one of the Russian capital's leading attractions during the winter season.
Last month, National Geographic magazine included Moscow in its list of top travel destinations for 2017, and particularly recommended that tourists venture further from the city's historical center, the Kremlin, to visit VDNKh, Gorky Park and other less well-visited sites. Both VDNKh and Gorky Park are popular places for ice skating among city residents.
